Ask 3Y0E a question!

To make 3Y0E.com even more interactive, the team came up with an idea which involves you; the viewer/reader.

It’s a simple format: Ask Petrus a question!

It could be something like: “What’s the worst weather you’ve had so far?” or “Can you tell me what’s been the funniest experience on Bouvet?” etc.

The 10 best questions will then be sent to Petrus via iridium, whereby he will reply to you personally.

It would be appreciated if you refrained from asking for a “sked” or “when will you work JA” etc. It’s almost impossible to know when Petrus gets time off from his research work.

Please feel free to list your questions in the comment field below.

  2. Hi Petrus,

For me traveling in such places has a part of magie..
I imagine easily that it is not funny all the time but if you are here, i think you must be attracted …
What does attract you to this places ? The human interactions in difficult places? the beauty of places ? Doing Radio from the other side of the pile up ? or anything else ?

Dear Tim thank you for your message, however please pay close attention to all the content on the website, you will find all your qeustion answered on the website…

Petrus is newly licensed and will only work Phone, he cannot read nor send any CW and don’t have any digital mode capability, he is so new to Amateur Radio that he did his first amateur radio transmission from Bouvet Island….

I hope that you manage to get into his log soon…

    Best of luck

    Hello,dear Petrus,
first all the best for 2008 and have a nice stay on the 3Y-land.
My question is: Do you have a chance to be qrv earlier on 20m band because here in the north the band closes around 3.30 pm GMT and it is impossible to get you on the band. ( I am interested because I never wok 3Y/Bouvet before) It would be nice to see you on 40m also because of the better possibilities in propagation. If you can also work CW that would be the most funny mode….hi.

Thanks for your understanding, all the best and 73 from northern Germany!

  6. (from Jerry)

    Petrus,

How many types of Penguins and seals live on the island?

How is the interaction between them and the research team?

  7. I think Dr Petrus is giving us a (big) lesson.
    Pay attention on his operation.
    Listen to him!
How smooth he spells your callsign!
No matter if he has only a 100w and a vertical.
He is there and we are anxious to exchange a simple report.
I guess it is another challenge for him and he is doing great.

The web site is very interactive.

    Congratulations to all.

  8. Hi Petrus,

What is the average temperature inside of your living quarters?

It is about 60-70F here in our shack and I find that freezing…
