Petrus 3Y0E/ZS6GCM (includes photo album)
Petrus Kritzinger ZS6GCM is a medic with the Norwegian-led scientific team on Bouvet. He was asked to join at the last minute. Quick thinking and help by ZS4TX saw Petrus gain an IC-735 and Hustler HF vertical. That equipment is now with Petrus on Bouvet.
Petrus became interested in amateur radio through friends. He soon became ZR6PK (in October, 2007) then ZS6GCM.
No stranger to colder climes, this is Petrus’s third trip to an isolated island. He recently spent a year on Gough Island, following an initial trip there a few years previously. Both times he was medic/deputy team leader.
Later next year sees Petrus assigned as team leader/medic with a research crew going to Marion Island. It is hoped amateur radio activity will be possible from ZS8!
